YOU will also be responsible for all public documents, adhering to legal advertising requirements, systematic indexing/record board and commission actions, and the precise transcription of meeting minutes.
Minimum Requirements Completion of a high school diploma or GED.
Associate's degree or some college level coursework in Office Administration, Legal Secretarial Science, Business Law, Business or Public Administration or a closely related field of study is preferred.
Minimum of (3) three years of experience involving the managing of boards and commissions, OR similar experience, and support and scheduling at a senior level, preferably within a municipal government or other service-related organization.
Experience equal to the educational requirement may be considered.
Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.
Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
Additional Requirements Requires the ability to prepare effective written communication, and the ability to communicate effectively verbally.
Must be detail-oriented, possess strong organizational and follow-up skills, and have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Must be able to create and maintain harmonious relationships with diverse populations.
Performs duties under the limited supervision of the Community Development Department Director and Deputy Directors.
May require working non-standard hours including evening and weekends.
Requires some local travel.
This is a non-exempt position.
The incumbent may be considered essential personnel during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
